In the year 2020, life for the average person will be run by computers. Everyday chores such as cleaning your home will be done by computer run machines. Everything from vacuuming, sweeping, mopping your floors, cooking your meals, cleaning out your sinks, bathtubs, showers and toilets, changing and making your beds, washing and drying your laundry will be accomplished by a push of a button. There will be robots that will lift any heavy furniture or boxes that you need to have moved. These robots will also take care of your children. They will also be able to push those buttons for you when you need certain chores to be done. Cars will become obsolete and you will fly in your own space ship from place to place. You will no longer need money to shop or pay your bills. Everything will be done by computer run machines that will process your purchases and all you will need to know is your account number. There will be no need for hospitals or doctors because all you will have to do is hook yourself up to a machine and it will diagnose your problem and fix whatever is wrong immediately. Just like the Jetson's!

Mary the Martian
Mary sees on the cover the images of a truck climbing over a hump of dirt in the road. From the image she would learn that this magazine has to do with vehicles and is focused on the male gender. The headlines focus on parts for trucks and cars. This would tell Mary that she is looking at a magazine that would help a man find things needed for his vehicle.
The majority of the articles are about different trucks and cars. The parts of them and the different racing events that take place. Mary would learn from these articles the names of the many different vehicles and their parts. She would learn about the races that take place with these vehicles, where they take place and what goes on there. The people in the magazine are dressed casually. Most are wearing jeans, t-shirts, some have advertising on them, such as "Wild Tech". For most of them, they are the average male, all shapes and sizes. Mary would learn how the average man looks and that they like to play with big toys. Most of the trucks have lift kits in them and big tires.
Based on the images in the magazine, Americans dress in a very casual way. The men in these pictures are often covered in mud and dirt. Mary would be surprised by the people she would see at the local mall. This would be because the people at the mall would be dressed a little nicer and would be cleaner looking.Based on the advertisements that are in this magazine, Mary would believe that Americans desire to have fun. She would see that they do this by driving vehicles that have been lifted up with special kits, use big tires and have lots of power. The advertisements would show her that to have fun Americans like to play in the mud. They also enjoy racing with one another down dirt tracks. Rain or shine, Americans can still get out and enjoy themselves.According to the magazine, you can be masculine or feminine and still have fun. They have no set size, body or beauty advertised with an exception of one or two. You can be a 300 pound man or woman and still drive a big truck or fast car. But in some advertisements they do show women who have large breasts and slim bodies. These advertisements would show women to be sexy and beautiful if they are shaped like these women.According to the magazine, having fun is what makes Americans happy. They have fun getting dirty. They have fun getting together with friends and working on their big trucks and fast cars. They have fun watching and participating in races. They have fun enjoying the outdoors in rain or sunshine.I think that Mary would decide to stay and find out more about Americans. I think she would be interested in learning about other types of activities we enjoy. I think she would like to learn about how Americans interact with each other in other situations. I think she may feel that she could easily fit in with the Americans she has just seen in this magazine.

prime time
A Show About Criminal Investigation
NCIS (Naval Criminal Investigative Service) is a very popular show, which began as a spin off of another popular show called JAG, in 2003. I am among the many viewers ranging from teens to the elderly, who enjoy watching shows such as this one, that deal with the forensic science side of solving crimes. My Mom and I watch all of the CSI shows each week.
NCIS deals with a main cast consisting of five men and two women. There really isn't any one character who is in the leading role, they all have a bit of history that has been told about them through out the story line. Members of the cast are as follows:Leroy Jethro Gibbs "Gibbs", lead agent of the team, Anthony "Tony" Dinozzo, agent who is always trying to impress Gibbs, Ziva David "Ziva", a multilingual Israeli super agent and the only female minority,Timothy McGee "McGee", young baby faced agent who is super with computer programs, Abby Sciuto "Abbs or Abby", Lab technician, Donald "Ducky" Mallard, Medical examiner and Leon Vance "Director", the Director of the NCIS Agency. The shows characters are of the ages between the late 20's to early 60's, the oldest ones being Gibbs, Ducky and the Director. All the characters are healthy and fit.
The women are portrayed each week as highly educated professionals in their field. The occasional ribbing between Tony and Ziva, as to which of them is the better agent, seems to be the only discrimination against women that I have seen on this show. And actually I really don't think of it as that. I see this as more of a silly bantering between two colleagues who are also friends. The characters all work together as one team, solving crimes by collecting, viewing the evidence and tracing down their killer. Ziva dresses as a professional woman, wearing stylish suit jackets and dress pants. Abby dresses in the "Gothic" style, which would appeal to the teenage viewers. I feel that the show portrays women in a positive way, showing that they are as highly educated in their field and can do the job as well as the men on their team can.

Super Bowl Advertisement
The Super Bowl allows this type of advertising because it helps to pay for the game being televised. It also demands top dollar from the advertisers. It draws in more viewers. It helps to promote sales for the companies that are advertising. Viewers enjoy these commercials and everyone likes to eat and drink.

Your vote
I did not vote. Yes, I was old enough to vote I just didn't feel anyone worth voting for was running. What we need is someone that is going to do as they say. Not just say what the people want to hear like they all do. I don't like government stuff its all one BIG LIE. So that is my feelings and the reasons why I did not vote.

Character
In today's Presidential race, I think the media focuses on the candidates visual image more than their character. If someone like Franklin Roosevelt were running for office today and the media focused on his physical handicap, he would never win the election. Our society seems more interested in how others look on the outside, rather than seeing each person for who they are on the inside. This is true with all of the advertisements that show actors and actresses with the perfectly shaped bodies, perfect smiles and lots of sex appeal. I think that we as a society should start looking at the more positive side of each other and not the negatives. And when looking for a President, we should be looking at who he/she is and what he/she stands for, instead of what they look like.

downloading music
I do agree that the people who actually write and perform the songs on these CDs do deserve to be paid for the work they have done and to have the recognition for their accomplishments. But on the other side of the coin, I disagree because the cost of most CDs today are over twenty dollars each. And many people cannot afford to purchase them. They are struggling to pay their bills and keep their homes. I think that since the music that is offered online has already been purchased by the people who are offering the downloads, that the royalties have already been made and this should be legal to do as long as it is for your own personal use.
